Complex PTSD

It has to serve you. Everything you do or accept should serve you. I was listening to a tik tok and they spoke about how you do not have to revisit trauma or dark memories in order to heal. I agree completely. Revisiting memories that serve you no good can be more harmful in the long run. Do not reactivate those emotions, thoughts, or images. Move on to the best of your ability. Do not look back to the past to heal. Experiencing new memories can help the healing process. Complex PTSD can be cruel. I see a lot of therapists trying to make people touch base with what hurt them, but what if that's not what they need? I'm a true believer you cannot heal where you have been harmed. Moving out of that space completely can release immense pressure. So sometimes I don't agree with the methods that are being used by doctors.

When somebody is triggered, it’s a reminder of the past. That is why their bodies react that way, that is why they freeze in the moment. Whatever they are experiencing is holding them back. Depression, emotional avoidance, and feeling on edge are just some of the laundry list of what one body can experience. You are just never at ease. It's not just one excluded situation that is triggering you. It is literally your whole life and the accumulation of dangerous circumstances that have left you a wreck. I'm not a doctor but as someone suffering from this, I can say I do not want to revisit any situation that I do not have to. I prefer to move on and avoid anything that could trigger me. Does anybody else feel this way?
