The Love Of God

Recently I've come into the Gospel, yeah that Gospel. The one us Christians are supposed to be acquainted with. But the only problem is that we're not acquainted with it, nor do we understand it. “Jesus Christ died for our sins”, that is as far as we go if we're being honest with ourselves. But I have come into the Gospel, the one where Jesus Christ did die for our sins, but I understand that my sins are forgiven and I am now a recipient of everything good the Father wills for me. I have that understanding now. I understand that God does not remember my sins. I understand that I don't have to live in conviction. I understand that I'm loved and God has good plans for me. I understand that the gospel is good news.

So you can imagine my surprise when I had to ask myself what I had been learning the entirety of my Christian faith. In fact, I have asked numerous other people, but nobody is yet to give me a straight answer. Recycled Bible verses, with little comprehension, and heavily flawed doctrines. That would be my answer. I received the gospel as a child but yet I allowed life to expand me like a hot air balloon with no room to deflate when I should have been cool, calm, and collected. Not wavering at the tribulations I faced, or soaking in despair that seemed never-ending. The truth is there is an end and it begins with the good news. If you understand the gospel, then you understand the love of God, and how Jesus dying for our sins was the greatest act of love demonstrated to date.

You’ll understand that everything you're seeking was already provided for you on that cross, and through prayer, you will pry it out into your reality. You’ll understand that God's answers are yes and Amen. You’ll understand that there is no human love that can surpass the love God has for you. It's a paternal blanket that is buoyant yet dense but doesn't crush you. On the contrary, it supports you, protects you, and comforts you. It doesn't misguide you or play games with you. It doesn't create bad situations to test you, but it waits for you to be willing to use it. You'll come to terms with the fact that you don't know what love is until you understand God's love for you. Agape. Life has a way of blinding the truth with overshadowing circumstances that deplete this truth, the gospel. When you come into the gospel, only then are these burdens eased. And it won’t always be an easy fight, but it is worth it.

The truth is the love of God is the gospel. In that love, there's restoration, there's peace, there's clarity, and much more. You might think you understand the gospel, I foolishly thought so too. The reality is most of us don't understand the gospel, we are still immersed in sin consciousness. We are triggered by the past, afraid of the future, and can’t come to terms with our now. I employ you to actually hear the good news, hear the gospel.
